Abstract: A hearing-aid device comprises a headband configured to be worn over a user's head, the headband having a form factor similar to headphones. A housing is positioned at a top portion of the headband, the housing containing an array of microphones distributed along the headband. A plurality of amplifier circuits is provided, each amplifier circuit corresponding to a respective microphone in the array of microphones. A digital signal processing (DSP) processor chip is configured to receive signals from the array of microphones and to implement beamforming to create nulls in a beam pattern along directions of speakers. A plurality of speakers are positioned near the user's ears on both sides of the headband, wherein the array of microphones at the top portion of the headband is spatially separated from the plurality of speakers to reduce acoustic coupling therebetween.
