Abstract: ABSTRACT TITLE: BiOCl-decorated 1T-MoS2 heterojunction electrocatalyst for Enhanced Hydrogen Evolution Reaction A cost-effective and efficient electrocatalyst for Hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in acidic media as heterojunction electrocatalyst is provided comprising heterojunction between select functionally distinct heterostructures of crystalline nanoplates and amorphous nanoflower like materials including those between crystalline BiOCl and amorphous 1T MoS2. Heterojunction between BiOCl nanoplates and 1T-MoS2 nanoflowers synthesized using two step one pot method without requiring any sophisticated instrumental facility. This novel interfacial structure reduces the charge transfer resistance, increase number of active sites, and utilizes the induced surface defects leading to the enhanced HER activity and stability. The catalyst achieves an overpotential of 224mV at a current density of 10 mA cm-2 and maintains its performance for more than 2000 cycles making it a suitable candidate for scalable, and sustainable alternative to platinum based electrocatalyst for green hydrogen generation.
