Abstract: Antibiotics monitoring in food is crucial for safeguarding public health, preventing resistance, and ensuring regulatory compliance. In this study, Sesbania sesban leaf extract utilized to as a bioreactor, reductant and stabilizing agent for eco-friendly synthesis of Co3O4 and Co3O4@Ag nanocomposites for detection of chloramphenicol antibiotic in food samples. The green-synthesized nanocomposite was thoroughly characterized for its structural and morphological features using, XRD, FESEM, EDX, FTIR and UV–Vis., analyses. Furthermore, a highly sensitive electrochemical sensor for the detection of chloramphenicol antibiotics was fabricated from the as-prepared nanocomposite. Using ideal experimental conditions, the sensor achieved a linear detection range of 0.00-200.0 µM with a notable detection limit of 12 nM. Further, the electrode was remarkably selectable, reproducible, and stable over a long period of time. Chloramphenicol was recovered in 98.60% to 99.80% of orange and grape juice samples, with a relative standard deviation of 2.10%. This work provides a reliable method for antibiotic detection while offering insights into electrochemical sensing for future food safety monitoring.
