Abstract: Blockchain-Based Digital Identity Protection Framework ABSTRACT: Digital identity offers methods for the assertion and verification of personally identifiable information (PII) in digital services and transactions. Blockchain technology is presented as a solution to fully leverage digital identities for personalised services and efficient transactions. Companies frequently gather sensitive information about their users and store it alongside less-sensitive routine business data. The emergence of user privacy-centric rules, such as GDPR, coupled with the evolving emphasis on corporate IT accountability, introduces new business risks. Identity constitutes the foundation of trust in contemporary society; nevertheless, existing systems are fragmented, reliant on documents, and constrained by national borders. Physical passports, national identity cards, and paper documentation persist in shaping worldwide mobility and access to services, notwithstanding their susceptibility to fraud, inefficiency, and exclusion. In the contemporary hyperconnected world, human mobility and digital finance have transcended the limitations of national identity systems. This fragmentation hampers innovation, escalates compliance expenses, and marginalises millions who reside or work across borders.
