MUMBAI, India, June 19 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411087148 A) filed by Chairman, Defence Research & Development on November 12, 2024, for Boron Based Spectrally Balanced Infrared Decoy Compositions Incorporating 1,5- Dinitronaphthalene As Organic Fuel.

Inventors include Debnath, Soujoy; Rej, Puspen Kumar; Pawar, Anand Ramchandra; Pedgaonkar, Shirish Vasant; and Dash, Anil Prasad.

Abstract: The present invention relates to addition of Boron fuel to organic fuel based spectrally balanced infrared decoy composition comprising Magnesium, along with pyrotechnic composition along with 1,5 Dinitronaphthalene as organic fuel, Potassium Perchlorate as oxidiser and Viton as binder. The pyrotechnic composition of the present invention give the desired IR intensity and intensity ratio for use in military applications. The present invention also provide a method of preparation of spectrally balanced infrared decoy compositions.
