MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641094140 A) filed by Karpagam College Of Engineering; Karpagam Academy Of Higher Education; Dr A S Muthanantha Murugavel; and Aadish E on August 04, 2026, for Browser Extension Foe Detecting Ransomware.
Inventors include Dr A S Muthanantha Murugavel; and Aadish E.
The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: This project presents a browser-based ransomware detection system that performs pre-execution analysis during file downloads to enhance early-stage cybersecurity protection. The system integrates a lightweight browser extension, a machine learning–driven detection backend, and an intelligent decision engine capable of pausing, scanning, and conditionally allowing or blocking downloads in real time. By intercepting files at the moment of download, the proposed approach shifts ransomware defense from traditional post-execution detection toward a proactive prevention model, thereby reducing the risk of malicious code reaching the user environment. The hybrid analysis mechanism combines static feature extraction, signature verification, and predictive machine learning classification to improve detection accuracy while maintaining minimal performance overhead.
