Abstract: Abstract Buffer device configured to buffer containers in a pre-grouped arrangement on a buffer surface of the buffer device, and method for buffering containers in a pre-grouped arrangement using the buffer device The invention relates to a buffer device (1, 15) which is configured to buffer containers (31), such as bottles, in a pre- grouped arrangement on a buffer surface (2, 16, 161, 162, 163) of the buffer device (1, 15), wherein the buffer device (1, 15) comprises paddles (11, 25) which are configured to move containers (31) on the buffer surface (2, 16, 161, 162, 163) in one direction and which extend in a second direction transverse to the first direction completely or at least to 90% over the extent of the buffer surface (2, 16, 161, 162, 163).
