Abstract: The present invention relates to calcium(II)-incorporated electrospun nanofiber mats designed for controlled calcium ion release and rapid hemostatic wound dressing applications. The invention discloses biodegradable polymer-based electrospun nanofibers incorporated with calcium ions or calcium-based nanostructures to promote rapid blood coagulation, enhanced wound sealing, moisture balance, antimicrobial protection, and accelerated tissue regeneration. The calcium-functionalized nanofibrous mats provide sustained release of Ca2+ ions that activate the coagulation cascade, enhance platelet adhesion and aggregation, and stimulate fibroblast proliferation and collagen deposition. The electrospun scaffold mimics extracellular matrix architecture with high porosity and surface area, enabling efficient exudate absorption, oxygen permeability, and cell attachment. The developed wound dressing demonstrates rapid hemostatic performance, improved biocompatibility, antimicrobial activity, and accelerated wound healing suitable for traumatic, surgical, acute, and chronic wound management applications.
