MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621048040 A) filed by Fleetguard Filters Private Limited on April 15, 2026, for Captive Fastener Assembly And Method Of Assembling The Same.

Inventors include Tarun Harivanshlal Dham; Anil Ishwar Sawant; and Sachin Prabhakar Shirode.

The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.

Abstract: A fastener assembly (10) comprises a bolt (12) having a head (14) and an externally threaded shank portion (16), and a head cover (18) having a through-hole (20). A plurality of resiliently deformable engagement members (22) project radially inward from an inner wall (21) of the through-hole (20). At least one retention protrusion (24) is formed on the externally threaded shank portion (16). Upon axial insertion, the retention protrusion (24) deflects the engagement members (22) and, upon passage, the engagement members (22) recover toward its pre-deflection shape to obstruct reverse axial movement of the bolt (12), forming a pre-assembled unit handleable as a single component prior to installation into a cylinder head (28). The engagement members (22) have a Flexural Index in the range of 0.005 to 40,000, ensuring consistent insertion and retention force performance across manufacturing tolerances without additional retaining components.
