MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641117952 A) filed by Venkatesan R; Yasmin A; and Gaverchand K on October 01, 2026, for Cellular Automata Based Texture Region Segmentation Method For Digital Images.
Inventors include Venkatesan R; Yasmin A; and Gaverchand K.
The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides a Cellular Automata based texture region segmentation method for digital images. The method determines directional transition characteristics from local image regions and encodes their relative ordering to generate directional relationship information. The directional relationship information is utilized to generate initial cellular states, which are subsequently evolved through directionally constrained neighborhood interactions based on directional compatibility and similarity. The evolved cellular states directly represent texture regions having different spatial or directional characteristics. The method provides a computational technique for texture region segmentation and is applicable to digital image analysis, texture characterization, pattern recognition, industrial surface inspection, material surface analysis, and automated visual inspection.
