The mobile device may be configured to display a cleaning area representation, receive user input selecting target cleaning zones, and transmit the input to the central processor. The central processor may generate a cleaning path and transmit guidance instructions. A laser guidance assembly (202) mounted on the robotic vacuum cleaner may comprise a laser projector (204) for projecting directional indicators and a beam control module (206). The robotic vacuum cleaner may navigate by following the projected indicators, detect surface conditions, and transmit them to the central processor. The central processor may modify the cleaning path based on processed surface conditions and transmit updated guidance instructions for execution by the robotic vacuum cleaner.
