The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: A centralized vector-oriented template (CVOT) controlled power quality compensator for electric vehicle charging stations is disclosed. The compensator comprises a series voltage source converter and a shunt voltage source converter connected back-to-back through a common DC-link capacitor at a point of common coupling supplying a plurality of non-linear electric vehicle chargers. A centralized controller senses three-phase supply voltages, derives a synchronizing angle through a phase- locked loop, and generates unit-vector templates. The templates are multiplied by a reference voltage magnitude to obtain fundamental sinusoidal reference voltages for the series converter, and by a current magnitude obtained from a PI-regulated DC-link voltage error to obtain reference currents for the shunt converter. Sinusoidal pulse-width modulation and hysteresis current control generate gating signals. The compensator mitigates voltage sag, swell, harmonic current distortion and poor power factor with simple computation, low 550 transient latency and reduced switching stress.
