Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a ceramic material that exhibits superior design properties and has an external appearance like that of a natural material. The ceramic material includes a base material and a design material such that at least some of the design material mixed into the base material is exposed on the surface with a random distribution. The degree of randomness is represented by the expression {(dmax-dmin)/dav} × 100, and is preferably 3% or greater. It is preferable for the ceramic material to further contain a coloring material, for the bulk density of the design material to be 0.02-0.4, and for the bulk density of the coloring material to be 0.3- 0.8. The ceramic material exhibits superior design properties, and the random distribution of the design material makes it possible to achieve a substantially uniform design on the surfaces and cross sections thereof.
