MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202647074216 A) filed by Qualcomm Incorporated on June 15, 2026, for Channel Occupancy Time Initiation Contention For Sidelink Resource Pool For Positioning.
Inventors include Stefanatos, Stelios; Sarkis, Gabi; and Vassilovski, Dan.
The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to COT associated with sidelink resource pool for positioning (SL-RP-Ps). More particularly, aspects of the disclosure are directed to a set of candidate channel occupancy time (COT)-initiation contention occasions and information associated with selection of a responder UE occasion being received by two or more UEs before initiation of a COT associated with a SL-RP-P. In this way, multiple UEs contend to be the COT-initiator UE, and (optionally) fallback COT- initiation contention occasions may be defined in case all contending UEs fail to clear the channel via their respective listen before talk (LBT) procedure. Such aspects may provide various technical advantages, such as reducing or avoiding the aforementioned problem of a COT-initiator UE failing to access the channel, which may in turn provide improved SL position estimation accuracy, reduced SL position estimation latency, and so on.
