Abstract: Various aspects relate to channel state information (CSI) including a precoding matrix indicator (PMI). An apparatus (e.g., user equipment (UE)) generates a CSI report including a PMI for a precoding matrix and a channel quality indicator (CQI). The precoding matrix corresponds to layers with each layer associated with a spatial beam and a size of the set of layers determined by a rank indicator (RI). The precoding matrix is associated with a subset of CSI reference signal (RS)(CSI-RS) ports, and the PMI and the CQI are each associated with at least one of a wideband format or a subband format, with the subband format corresponding to reporting at least one of the PMI or the CQI for a subset of subbands of a bandwidth part associated with a CSI reporting setting. The apparatus transmits the CSI report including the RI, the PMI, and the CQI to a network entity.
