MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641123925 A) filed by Dr. Milan Singh; Dr. Srasti Yadav; Dr Hridyesh Kumar; Dr Anu Singh; and Dr. Shivangi Trivedi on October 16, 2026, for Chitosan-Based Zinc Oxide Nanoparticle-Loaded Gallic Acid Films For Supercapacitor Application And A Process For Preparation Thereof.

Inventors include Dr. Milan Singh; Dr. Srasti Yadav; Dr Hridyesh Kumar; Dr Anu Singh; and Dr. Shivangi Trivedi.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a flexible, free-standing, bio-based composite film for supercapacitor application, comprising a chitosan matrix in which zinc oxide nanoparticles and gallic acid are dispersed, preferably together with a plasticiser and optionally a conductive additive. Per 100 parts by weight of chitosan, the film contains 0.5 to 5 parts of ZnO nanoparticles and 1 to 10 parts of gallic acid. The film is prepared by a simple aqueous solution-casting process comprising dissolving chitosan in dilute acetic acid, adding ultrasonically dispersed ZnO nanoparticles, adding gallic acid and plasticiser, casting and drying at 35 to 60 °C. The ZnO nanoparticles contribute pseudocapacitance, the gallic acid contributes reversible redox activity, and chitosan provides film formation and ion transport. A supercapacitor incorporating the film is also disclosed.
