MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621109538 A) filed by Shailendra Shivaji Gurav; and Manali Ashok Vaidya on September 11, 2026, for Chitosan-Panchagavya Zinc Oxide Nanocomposite, Preparation Process And Plant Growth- Promoting Formulation.

Inventors include Shailendra Shivaji Gurav; Manali Ashok Vaidya; Nilambari Shailendra Gurav; Prashant Suresh Kharkar; Gaurav Jayant Desai; Mohan Ganpatrao Kalaskar; and Akshay M Baheti.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The invention relates to a chitosan-based Panchagavya-mediated zinc oxide nanocomposite for agricultural use. Panchagavya-mediated zinc oxide nanoparticles are formed from an aqueous zinc precursor under alkaline conditions and are subsequently associated with a chitosan matrix in acidic aqueous medium. The resulting nanocomposite is characterized by modified particle size, surface charge, spectroscopic profile, crystalline features and morphology relative to the uncoated nanoparticles. In the disclosed Vigna radiata model, the nanocomposite shows maximal growth-promoting activity at about 62.5 mg/L, compared with about 125 mg/L for the corresponding uncoated nanoparticles, and additionally exhibits antioxidant and antibacterial activity. The invention further provides a reproducible preparation process, preferred process conditions, and an agriculturally acceptable formulation comprising the nanocomposite. Accompanied Drawing
