MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641124640 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on October 15, 2026, for Closed-Loop Fertilizer Micro-Dosing Apparatus With Gravimetric Flow Compensation And Blockage Recovery.

Inventors include Giriraj Mannayee; Moulika Grandhi; and Radnyee Daware.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT CLOSED-LOOP FERTILIZER MICRO-DOSING APPARATUS WITH GRAVIMETRIC FLOW COMPENSATION AND BLOCKAGE RECOVERY An apparatus for micro-dosing and placing agricultural fertilizer includes a fertilizer storage hopper (101), a metering screw (103) conveying fertilizer toward a discharge outlet (107), and a motor (104) coupled to the metering screw (103). A gravimetric measurement module (105) comprises a load cell (112) measuring dispensed fertilizer mass and generating a load-cell signal indicative of an actual mass-flow rate. A controller (106) receives the load-cell signal, compares the actual mass-flow rate with a target mass-flow rate, and adjusts motor (104) speed to reduce the difference. A rotary encoder (111) associated with the motor (104) generates an encoder signal. An anti-bridging agitator (102) is associated with the hopper (101). The controller (106) derives an expected mass-flow rate from the encoder signal, cross-checks actual versus expected mass-flow rates to discriminate among fault conditions, and upon blockage determination automatically executes a recovery sequence comprising halting, reversing, actuating the agitator (102), verifying restored flow, and resuming forward rotation.
