MUMBAI, India, July 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641086671 A) filed by Ashok Leyland Limited on July 15, 2026, for Clutch Facing Composite For Commercial Vehicles.

Inventors include Vijay Bhooshan Kumar; Suryanarayana Prasad A. N; K. S. Dhianeshwar; and Kanakasabapathi Subramanian.

The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.

Abstract: A ceramic clutch facing composite for a commercial vehicle or industrial drivetrain application includes a matrix (514) of ceramic and/or metallic materials. A graphene monolayer (512) is incorporated within the matrix (514). A nanomaterial component includes nanometallic and/or metal-ceramic particles (510, 516) decorating the graphene monolayer (512) at a loading level of less than 0.1 wt% relative to a total weight of the composite. Graphitic carbon is incorporated within the matrix (514). The nanomaterial component is functionally distributed such that a contact surface region (502) of the composite has a lower nanomaterial concentration than an internal core region (504) of the composite.
