Abstract: ABSTRACT CO-PLANAR DUAL-AXIS OPTICAL PROJECTILE DETECTION SYSTEM WITH A CALIBRATED TWO-DIMENSIONAL COORDINATE MAPPING The invention relates to an optical electronic target system for detecting projectile position in shooting applications. The system comprises a first sensor array 110 and a second sensor array 150 arranged co-planarly within a single detection plane positioned immediately adjacent to the target surface, at an included angle of 60 to 75 degrees. Each sensor array includes a linear array of between 70 and 140 photodiode sensors illuminated by a corresponding optical line source. Each photodiode sensor is associated with a dedicated analog peak-hold circuit configured to capture and retain a maximum analog voltage deviation caused by projectile passage during a predefined capture window. Retained analog values are sequentially routed through an analog multiplexing arrangement to at least one analog-to- digital converter operating at a speed lower than the projectile shadow event duration. A processing module computes a projectile passage position from the retained values and converts sensor-space coordinates to physical target-plane coordinates using a calibrated two-dimensional coordinate mapping function coefficients.
