Abstract: A volumetric holographic cockpit interface system (100) is disclosed for providing touch-interactive three-dimensional control surfaces in free space. The system comprises a light-field projection unit (101) including a solid-state photonic emitter (102) and a multi-layer diffractive waveguide stack (103) configured to generate volumetric virtual control interfaces. A non-invasive tracking system (104) detects real-time hand position and eye-gaze of a user. An ultrasonic haptic feedback array (105) generates focused mid- air tactile sensations corresponding to user interactions. A holographic control processor (106) synchronizes visual projection and acoustic feedback by detecting intersection events between the user and the virtual interfaces. The system eliminates physical displays and mechanical switches, reduces weight and maintenance, and improves safety and situational awareness. The invention applies to aircraft, eVTOL platforms, and advanced automotive cockpits requiring reconfigurable, high-reliability human–machine interfaces.
