MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611104127 A) filed by Chandigarh University on August 29, 2026, for Collar-Based System For Automated Detection And Decommissioning Of Inactive Utility And Telecommunication Wires.
Inventors include Sangeeta; and Naveen Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses an IoT-based electric pole safety and accident prevention system configured to detect hazardous conditions associated with electrical distribution infrastructure and provide automatic protective actions. The system comprises sensors configured to detect current leakage, water contact, voltage abnormalities, and pole tilt conditions. A microcontroller to identify potentially dangerous conditions and determine an appropriate protective response processes sensor outputs. The system automatically disconnects the electrical supply through a relay mechanism to reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, and related accidents upon detection of a predefined hazardous condition. The system further provides local visual and audible alerts and transmits fault information to a remote monitoring dashboard through an IoT communication module. The invention enables real-time monitoring, rapid fault response, and preventive protection at the electric pole level, thereby improving public safety and supporting efficient management of electrical infrastructure in urban and disaster-prone areas.
