Abstract: The present application relates to the field of wireless communications, and in particular, to a communication method and apparatus based on a distributed resource unit (dRU). The method comprises: on the basis of a 40 MHz/80 MHz dRU tone plan, a communication apparatus generates and sends a PPDU. For details of the 40 MHz/80 MHz dRU tone plan, reference may be made to the description of the embodiments. By using the present application, the spectrum utilization rate can be improved. The present application supports 802.11 series protocols, such as the 802.11bn/UHR/Wi-Fi 8 protocol, the 802.11be/EHT/Wi-Fi 7 protocol, the 802.11ax protocol, the 802.11a/b/g protocols, the 802.11n protocol, and the 802.11ac protocol. UWB protocols, sensing protocols, and the like can also be supported.
