Abstract: The present application relates to the technical field of communications, and to a communication method and apparatus. The method comprises: a first communication apparatus (e.g. a terminal device) may acquire indication information, the indication information indicating a first area set for sending first system information, and/or a second area set not used for sending the first system information. In this way, the first communication apparatus can determine which areas are used for sending the first system information and which areas are not used for sending the first system information; and the first communication apparatus does not monitor the first system information in the areas where the first system information is not sent, thereby reducing the frequency of invalid monitoring of the first communication apparatus, saving power consumption.
