Abstract: A communication method and a communication apparatus. The method is applied to an LTM handover scenario. The method comprises: a first node sends a first message to a second node, wherein the first message is used for requesting to add the second node as a candidate secondary node for a terminal, the first message comprises first identification information, and the first identification information is used for requesting an advance synchronization configuration from the second node; and the first node receives a second message from the second node, wherein the second message is used for confirming to add the second node as a candidate secondary node for the terminal, the second message comprises a first advance synchronization configuration, and the first advance synchronization configuration corresponds to the first identification information. In the method, the terminal implements cross-node cell handover on the basis of advance synchronization, thereby reducing handover latency.
