Abstract: An activated carbon composition (100) for visualization of latent fingerprints and a method for its application. The composition comprises activated carbon derived from Lantana camara biomass, a chemical activating agent, one or more fluorescent dye conjugates, at least one magnetic nanoparticle, surface functionalization layers, and biopolymer encapsulation coatings. The activated carbon, preferably in nanoscale form, provides high surface area and enhanced adsorption of fingerprint residues. The surface functionalization layers improve hydrophilicity and binding affinity, while the biopolymer coatings enhance adhesion, dispersion, and stability of the composition. The fluorescent dye conjugates enable visualization under ultraviolet or visible light, and the magnetic nanoparticles facilitate controlled and contactless application. The composition exhibits preferential adhesion to fingerprint residues, resulting in enhanced sensitivity and contrast. The invention further provides a method for applying the composition to substrates for clear visualization of latent fingerprints on both porous and non-porous surfaces.
