Abstract: The present invention provides tablet compositions comprising Salcaprozate sodium exhibiting a rapid release of at least 90% of the Salcaprozate sodium in 20 minutes. The present invention also provides a process comprising a step of direct compression of Salcaprozate sodium, a peptide suitable for oral administration and one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients to prepare a tablet. The Salcaprozate sodium used to prepare the tablets has a particle size distribution such that, its D90 is in the range of 270 to 400 microns, and wherein the Salcaprozate sodium is present in an amount from 60% w/w to 70% w/w of the tablet.
