Abstract: The present invention relates to non-invasive system (100) for inferencing affective states of cattle. The non-invasive system (100) comprises an image acquisition module (102) comprising at least one digital camera sensor to capture real-time sequential images of one or more cattle in a monitored livestock environment at an assigned frame rate, a pre-processing and region identification module (104) comprising a processor to perform pre-processing and enhancement of the captured images, a tail orientation analysis module (106) connected to the pre-processing module and processes the identified tail region to extract spatio-temporal features, an ear orientation analysis module (108) configured to process the identified ear region to extract ear posture features, and a communication interface module configured to transmit the inferred affective state to a remote livestock monitoring module, the system (100) is configured to perform continuous, contactless monitoring of cattle behavior in real-time without requiring wearable sensors and manual observation.
