MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202647086514 A) filed by Ifp Energies Nouvelles on July 15, 2026, for Continuous Counter-Current Leaching Method For Recycling Catalyst Metals.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a continuous method for the counter-current leaching of a spent catalyst, comprising at least one metal from group VIB and/or at least one metal from group VIII, optionally phosphorus and/or sulphur, and a support based on one or more oxides, characterised in that the method comprises N leaching steps, where N is greater than or equal to 2, in which the spent catalyst is brought into counter-current contact with a leaching solution comprising at least one organic compound, wherein the leaching solution is supplied continuously and flows through each of the leaching steps in the opposite direction to the flow of the spent catalyst, and wherein each leaching step is followed by a solid/liquid separation step to obtain a solution that contains one or more extracted metals and a catalyst depleted in one or more metals.
