Abstract: The present invention relates to a continuous, solvent free, process for producing poly(amide-imide) polymer, the process comprising the steps of a. Feeding a polycarboxylic acid anhydride, and a compound having at least two isocyanate functional groups through one or more feeding ports into an extruder; b. Mixing and melting the composition inside the extruder; c. Reacting the composition inside the extruder at a temperature in the range of 260 – 400°C; d. Collecting the reacting mixture at the exit of the extruder; and e. Cooling the reacting mixture.
