Abstract: This control device for a winding device controls a winding device that includes: a winder for winding a metal band and including a mandrel that has a slot capable of receiving the front end of the metal band; and a guide for guiding the metal band to the winder. The control device comprises: a rotation control unit configured to rotate the mandrel in a direction opposite to the winding direction so that the front end of the metal band fed from the guide toward the winder enters the slot; a first determination unit configured to determine, on the basis of the position of a portion on the downstream side of the guide of the metal band when the mandrel is rotated in the opposite direction, whether or not the front end of the metal band has entered the slot; and a position changing unit for changing the position of the portion of the metal band when it is determined by the first determination unit that the front end has not entered the slot. The position changing unit is configured to lower the position of the portion of the metal band or cause the portion of the metal band to retreat when it is determined by the first determination unit that the front end has not entered the slot. The rotation control unit is configured to again rotate the mandrel in the opposite direction so that the front end of the metal band enters the slot after the position of the portion of the metal band has been changed by the position changing unit.
