Abstract: A conveying device that includes a workpiece tray, a workpiece tray–conveying rail, a moving element–conveying path, and a plurality of moving elements that can be moved on the moving element–conveying path, and that conveys a workpiece placed on the workpiece tray by transferring the workpiece tray from an origin moving element to a destination moving element, the conveying device being configured such that the moving elements each have a moving element body and a moving element engaging part that detachably engages with the workpiece tray, and in a region where a movement range in which the origin moving element moves on the moving element–conveying path and a movement range in which the destination moving element moves on the moving element– conveying path overlap, the moving element engaging part of the origin moving element releases engagement with the workpiece tray and the moving element engaging part of the destination moving element engages with the workpiece tray, thereby transferring the workpiece tray from the origin moving element to the destination moving element.
