The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT Cottonseed-based plant-protein tofu/paneer-like product with complementary soy protein The invention relates to a dairy-free plant-protein curd, an alternative to paneer and tofu, and to a method of preparing it. Cottonseed is a rich but under-used protein whose natural toxin, gossypol, and whose poor curd-forming behaviour have limited its food use. Cottonseed is soaked and naturally fermented to lower its gossypol content, then ground and filtered to obtain a detoxified cottonseed milk. The cottonseed milk, as the major component, is blended with a minor proportion of soy milk, heated and coagulated with a food-grade coagulant, and the curd is separated from whey and pressed into a block. The minor proportion of soy milk provides structural cohesion and reduces flakiness in the curd, giving a cohesive and sliceable product having a gossypol content below about one part per million and a high protein content, suitable for culinary use SIVAKUMAR T (IN/PA 5811) Agent for the Applicant Dated 15th October 2026
