Abstract: [055] The present invention relates to a Cucumis sativus peel based eco-friendly latent fingerprint development powder and a process for preparation thereof. Fresh cucumber peels are washed with distilled water, preliminarily dried under sunlight, cut into smaller pieces, hot-air dried at about 50 °C to 60 °C until brittle, ground into particulate material and sieved through a micro-pore cloth to obtain a fine powder fraction. The prepared powder is biodegradable, non-toxic and substantially free from heavy metals and synthetic chemical additives. The powder is stored in an airtight container to reduce moisture uptake and maintain functional effectiveness. During use, a small quantity of the powder is applied with a fingerprint brush over a suspected non-porous surface, where the powder adheres to moisture and sebaceous residues of latent fingerprints and reveals visible ridge patterns. The invention provides a low-cost, sustainable and safer alternative for latent fingerprint development on non-porous surfaces. Accompanied Drawing [FIG. 1]
