MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611068175 A) filed by Sharda University on May 31, 2026, for Curcumin-Loaded Polymeric Transdermal Patch Preparation Apparatus.
Inventors include Dr. Neha; and Tahir Diyajo Ahmad.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: Abstract Disclosed is an apparatus for preparing a curcumin-loaded polymeric transdermal patch. The apparatus comprises a support frame, a Soxhlet extractor for obtaining a curcumin-containing extract from turmeric powder using alcoholic solvent, first and second mixing beakers for preparing hydroxypropyl methylcellulose and ethyl cellulose solutions, and a formulation beaker positioned on a magnetic stirrer. The formulation beaker sequentially receives the polymer solutions, curcumin-containing extract, glycerin, and dimethyl sulfoxide, and a magnetic stir bar homogenizes the materials into a curcumin-loaded polymeric casting mixture. A casting tray receives the casting mixture and comprises a flat film-forming floor with a peripheral wall for retaining the casting mixture as a continuous film layer. An adjustable levelling platform maintains the casting tray in a horizontal orientation, and a drying enclosure holds the film layer during solvent evaporation to form the transdermal patch.
