MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411093542 A) filed by Lovely Professional University on November 29, 2024, for Cutting Tool Insert.
Inventors include Dr. Swastik Pradhan; and Dr. Rahul Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a cutting tool insert (100) including a substrate (110) having a surface. Embodiments may also include a micro-groove pattern (120) integrally formed on the surface. In some embodiments, the micro-groove pattern (120) may be configured to enhance the performance of the cutting tool insert (100) in machining operations, including turning, milling, drilling, and grinding. Embodiments may also include characterized in that the micro-groove pattern (120) may be created using surface engineering techniques selected from laser etching, electrical discharge machining (EDM), or mechanical texturing, thereby providing optimized tool performance through reduced friction, enhanced chip evacuation, and improved thermal management during cutting processes.
