MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641094487 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on August 04, 2026, for Cyber-Physical Data Preservation Apparatus And Method Thereof.

Inventors include Sahaya Beni Prathiba; Sherly A; Sarthak Mishra; and Kalyanasundaram V.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: A cyber-physical data preservation apparatus (102) can include a housing (104), a storage subsystem (106) to store digital assets, an environmental sensor assembly (108) to generate environmental signals indicative of environmental parameters associated with the storage subsystem (106), an environmental conditioning assembly (110) to modify, responsive to an actuation command, at least one environmental condition associated with the storage subsystem (106), and a control unit (112) operatively coupled to the storage subsystem (106), the environmental sensor assembly (108), and the environmental conditioning assembly (110). The control unit (112) computes an obsolescence indicator for at least one digital asset based on technological compatibility indicators received from external data sources, validates and executes a proposed format transformation responsive to the obsolescence indicator satisfying a migration criterion, generates a degradation indicator from the environmental signals, and modifies at least one of a redundancy parameter and the actuation command based on the degradation indicator.
