MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611065831 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Roorkee on May 25, 2026, for Cyber-Resilient Protection For Hybrid Ac/Dc Microgrids With Integrated Fdi Detection And Phase-Ground Fault Classifier.

Inventors include Jena, Premalata; and Kanth, Mir Uzair.

The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system (102) and method (500) for fault detection and protection in hybrid AC/DC microgrids. The system (102) includes measurement units configured to detect line current and voltage measurements from terminals of line sections of the hybrid microgrid. The system (102) determines fault energy associated with the line sections and generates a trip signal for execution of a protection routine when the determined fault energy exceeds a predefined threshold. The system (102) computes superimposed component decomposition (SCD) of the voltage and current measurements to determine superimposed symmetrical- domain voltage differential signals across the line sections. The system (102) detects and classifies faults based on the superimposed symmetrical-domain voltage differential signals. The system (102) determines security threat conditions based on anomalies detected in the superimposed voltage differential signals. The system (102) generates a fault-trip signal for a solid-state circuit breaker based on the determined security threat conditions.
