Inventors include Pankaj; Neha Singh; Shreya Sahani; Kamlesh Kumar Gautam; and Durgesh Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system and method for distributed denial-of-service attack detection and adaptive mitigation using federated learning at edge nodes. The system collects network traffic and physical resource-state measurements, creates multi-resolution traffic-behaviour sketches, and calculates an attack probability, attack phase and resource-impact score. A bounded causal traffic challenge can differentiate malicious traffic from legitimate high-volume activity. A mitigation evidence capsule is created by an initiating edge node and validated by topologically independent witness nodes. Upon validation, a proof-carrying mitigation lease specifies the target traffic class, enforcement action, intensity, validity period, recovery threshold and rollback condition. A programmable data-plane device enforces the lease and a recovery module measures the improvement in network resources and renews, modifies or revokes the lease. The topology-aware aggregation helps in isolating poisoned model contributions, maintains privacy of local traffic, reduces communication overhead, prevents unilateral blocking and improves packet processing, service availability and network resilience against evolving coordinated cyber attacks.
