Abstract: ABSTRACT DEFENSE MECHANISM FOR INTRUSION DETECTION SYSTEMS AGAINST ADVERSARIAL MACHINE LEARNING ATTACKS The present invention relates to a defense mechanism specifically designed for intrusion detection systems to counter adversarial machine learning attacks. The system comprises an adversarial detection module that identifies adversarial perturbations in network traffic data using advanced scrutiny techniques. Following this, a robust classification engine classifies network activities as benign or malicious, maintaining high accuracy despite adversarial perturbations. A defense mechanism integration layer acts as an intermediary, coordinating data flow and defense strategies, and adapting these strategies based on new threat intelligence. The system also includes a feedback and adaptation system for continuous monitoring and strategy adaptation in response to evolving threats. Additionally, a user interface and monitoring dashboard provides a user-friendly interface for system performance monitoring and management, displaying relevant information from the feedback and adaptation system. This invention is particularly relevant in the technical field of cybersecurity, enhancing the resilience of intrusion detection systems against sophisticated adversarial attacks.
