Inventors include Dr Pakkeerammal Farhaanaa A; Dr. Roland Prethipa; and Deepak Nallaswamy Veeraiyan.
The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: AB^1k a C i The present invention pertains to a click-actualcd, force-calibrated tooth percussion device for dental diagnostics, engineered to deliver controlled, consistent, and reproducible percussion stimuli. The handheld mechanical instrument applies a predetermined diagnostic force within an optimal range o('approximately 2™ 4 newtons, thereby minimizing the subjectivity and variability inherent in conventional manual percussion techniques. The device incorporates an elongated housing containing a calibrated energy storage and release assembly, comprising a resilient spring, a force-limiting click mechanism, and a plunger coupled to a patient contact tip. Applied manual force is accumulated and released only upon reaching a predefined actuation threshold, producing a clear tactile and audible click that confirms standardized force delivery, independent of operator strength or technique. By ensuring uniform, low-magnitude percussion, the invention improves diagnostic reliability, enhances interoperator reproducibility, and promotes patient comfort, while offering a compact, pen-like instrument suitable for routine clinical use without electronics or external power sources.
