MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202647095392 A) filed by Qualcomm Incorporated on August 06, 2026, for Derivation Process For Chained Motion Vector Prediction In Video Coding.
Inventors include Lin, Po-Han; Lin, Jian-Liang; Zhang, Zhi; Seregin, Vadim; and Karczewicz, Marta.
The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.
Abstract: An example video coder is configured to determine to decode a current block of the video data using a bilateral matching merge mode. The video coder is configured to determine a first chained motion vector prediction (CMVP) candidate based on a first source candidate and determine that the first source candidate satisfies one or more bilateral matching conditions. The video coder is configured to insert the first CMVP candidate into a bilateral matching merge list. The video coder is configured to determine a second CMVP candidate based on a second source candidate and determine that the second source candidate does not satisfy the one or more bilateral matching conditions. The video coder is configured to insert the second CMVP candidate into a second list. The video coder is configured to decode the current block using at least one of the bilateral matching merge list or the second list.
