Abstract: The proper disposal of sanitary waste remains a significant environmental and public health challenge. Existing disposal methods, such as landfilling or largescale institutional incineration, suffer from critical drawbacks including high emissions, lack of privacy, odor generation, and logistical inefficiencies. To address these issues, this project presents the design and development of a Portable Thermal Sanitary Waste Management System. Engineered specifically for household, hostel, travel, and semi-public use, this compact device safely incinerates one sanitary pad at a time, reducing it to sterile ash with minimal emissions. The core novelty of the proposed system lies in its dual-stage combustion architecture combined with a highly specialized multi-layer filtration module. The primary chamber utilizes a precision- engineered true helical nichrome heating coil to initiate combustion at 600-700 C. To mitigate the release of unburned hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide, the gases are channeled into a secondary combustion chamber where thermal breakdown is completed. The exhaust then passes through a depth-split filtration module comprising a 10 mm ceramic filter, a 10 mm activated carbon layer, and a 10 mm terminal air gap, ensuring that the final emission is odorless and ecologically safe. The system is heavily insulated with ceramic fiber to maintain a safe-to- touch stainless steel outer casing, combining mechanical strength with superior thermal engineering. Modeled using Creo Parametric, the mechanical layout optimizes the airflow path and incorporates user-friendly features such as a sliding ash tray for safe residue disposal. This project establishes a patentworthy paradigm in personalized thermal waste management, offering a hygienic, low-emission, and highly robust alternative to conventional sanitary waste disposal systems.
