MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641071382 A) filed by Sona College Of Technology on June 09, 2026, for Design And Development Of Movable Divider For Traffic Control.
Inventors include Sivapragasam A; Sukumar B; and Seran K.
The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a movable divider system for traffic control configured to dynamically regulate lane allocation based on traffic density. The system comprises divider blocks, a base rail or track system, a sliding mechanism, a locking mechanism, and optionally a motorized drive mechanism with a control unit and traffic sensors. The divider is laterally movable toward the low-density traffic side to increase lane width for the congested direction while maintaining physical separation of opposite traffic flows. The invention reduces traffic congestion, improves road safety, minimizes travel time, and enhances transportation efficiency without widening the road infrastructure. The system may operate manually, semi-automatically, or fully automatically and is suitable for highways, city roads, bridges, and smart transportation systems.
