MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641125855 A) filed by Srm Trp Engineering College on October 22, 2026, for Design And Development Of Sea Water Desalination Unit With Uv-C Sterilization For Potable Water Production.
Inventors include Sibu C F; Karthiga J; Soundarya P; Dharshan A; and Bharanidharan R.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses an Intelligent Seawater Desalination and Resource Recovery System employing electrically assisted thermal distillation, Peltier-assisted condensation, UV-C sterilization, mineral remineralization, automated salt harvesting, and Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W (115) based intelligent process control with IoT monitoring for decentralized potable water production and marine resource recovery. The system comprises a Seawater Intake Tank (101), SS Mesh Filter (102), Sediment Filter (103), Activated Carbon Filter (104), SS304 Evaporation Tray (106), Silicone Rubber Heater (107), Peltier Condensation Chamber (108), UV-C Sterilization Unit (109), Mineral Cartridge (110), Potable Water Storage Tank and automated salt harvesting mechanism.Pretreated seawater is thermally evaporated in the SS304 Evaporation Tray (106), and the generated vapour is condensed in the Peltier Condensation Chamber (108).TDS, flow rate, water level, salt mass, and system status while controlling the heater, pump, valves, Peltier modules, cooling fan, UV-C unit, and salt-harvesting mechanism. Operational data is transmitted through the Wi-Fi Communication Module (150) to the IoT Dashboard (120) for real-time monitoring, data logging, fault detection, and performance analysis.
