MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641070291 A) filed by Dr. J. Venkatesan on June 05, 2026, for Design Optimization Of Lightweight Automotive Structures Using Advanced Composite Materials.
Inventor includes Dr. J. Venkatesan.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: A system and method for design optimization of lightweight automotive structures using advanced composite materials is disclosed. The invention comprises a design input module, a material characterization module, a structural simulation module, a topology optimization module, a laminate optimization module, a multi-objective optimization processor, a manufacturability evaluation module, and an output generation module. The system receives geometric parameters, loading conditions, structural requirements, and performance objectives associated with automotive components and evaluates a plurality of advanced composite materials. Finite element analysis, topology optimization, and laminate optimization techniques are employed to minimize structural weight while maintaining or improving strength, stiffness, crashworthiness, durability, and thermal performance. The invention further incorporates manufacturing constraints and cost considerations to ensure practical implementation. The optimized designs are applicable to vehicle chassis structures, battery enclosures, crash beams, body panels, door reinforcements, and other automotive components, resulting in improved vehicle efficiency, safety, and overall structural performance.
