Abstract: In the era of artificial intelligence and smart devices, there is an increasing interest in developing robots that not only assist with tasks but also provide companionship and emotional interaction. This project presents the Desktop Companion Robot for Interactive Well- being, an intelligent, voice-interactive desktop assistant designed to simulate a human-like experience through multimodal interaction. The robot is powered by a Raspberry Pi 3B+ and integrated with Google's Gemini API, enabling it to process voice commands and generate intelligent, context-aware responses. The robot listens to user queries through a microphone, sends the input to the Gemini API for Al-powered processing, and delivers responses both visually and audibly. Its expressive 1.3-inch OLED display acts as animated eyes that blink, display emojis, and show textual responses, enhancing the sense of interaction and presence. To further humanize its behavior, a servo motor enables the robot's head movement while speaking, simulating lifelike gestures that contribute to a more engaging user experience. Powered by a rechargeable battery with a 5 V buck converter, the robot is designed to be portable and flexible for desktop use without dependency on a constant power supply. Additionally, the robot can perform small actions such as greeting with voice and displaying emoji-like expressions on the display, enriching the overall interaction. This compact and portable companion robot bridges the gap between functional digital assistants and emotionally engaging robots.
