Abstract: The present invention relates to detergent bars. Specifically, the present invention relates to a laundry detergent bar composition having no polyphosphate builders. The present inventors have found that disclosed process for preparing a solid laundry detergent bar composition which involves a step of complete neutralization of the acid precursor of anionic surfactant with specific neutralizing agent and a step of contacting a phosphorous based acid with an aluminium containing alkaline compound to form an aluminium-phosphate complex provides a laundry detergent bar composition which has desirable bar properties and sensorial properties even when the laundry detergent bar composition has 0 wt.% polyphosphate builder, more specifically when the laundry detergent bar composition has 0 wt.% STPP. The laundry detergent bar deliver superior sensory properties such as lather, bar feel, skin feel, colour of the bar, without altering the processability and physical properties of the bar.
