MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641125868 A) filed by Srm Trp Engineering College on October 22, 2026, for Developing A Lora-Based Blind Curve Vehicle Collision Alert System.

Inventors include Parameswaran G; Ramakrishnan L; Ragul N; and Poovendhan R.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: A LoRa-based blind curve vehicle collision alert system and method are disclosed. A pair of roadside nodes is installed at respective approach ends of a monitored blind curve, each comprising a vehicle-detection assembly, such as a Doppler radar, infrared, ultrasonic, or inductive-loop sensor, an embedded controller, preferably an ESP32-class controller coupled to a dedicated LoRa radio-frequency transceiver, one or more warning actuators, and a power subsystem. Upon detecting a vehicle approaching the curve, and, in certain embodiments, determining that the estimated time-to-curve of the detected vehicle falls within a configured window, the controller of the detecting node transmits an alert packet over the LoRa link to the roadside node positioned at the opposite approach end of the curve. Upon receipt of a valid alert packet, the receiving node activates one or more warning actuators, such as a flashing warning light, illuminated sign, or audible tone, so as to warn an oncoming motorist of the concurrently approaching vehicle in time to adjust speed or lane position before entering the curve. The system provides a low-cost, continuous, cellular-independent, two-directional early-warning layer intended to reduce head-on collision risk at blind curves, as an active-warning aid that complements rather than replaces existing convex mirrors, static signage, and road-engineering measures.
