Abstract: The present invention relates to a smart wound monitoring system for monitoring selected wound-related parameters associated with postoperative patients and providing early alerts for conditions requiring clinical assessment. The system comprises a wound-associated sensing assembly having one or more sensing elements for acquiring parameters including temperature, moisture, and optionally wound images. The acquired measurements are supplied to an embedded processing unit configured to perform signal conditioning, calibration, reference comparison, temporal trend analysis, and multi-parameter evaluation. When predefined abnormal or persistent parameter variations are identified, the processing unit generates a corresponding monitoring alert through a local alert unit and/or transmits the information through a wireless communication unit to an authorized monitoring interface. The system further provides data logging for maintaining historical measurements and evaluating parameter changes over time. The proposed invention provides an integrated, configurable, and modular approach for postoperative wound monitoring and early identification of changes that may warrant further clinical evaluation.
